Viva Voce PRACTICE RECORDINGS
Viva Voce CALENDAR
VIVA VOCE YOUTH CHOIR News (See sections below for news specific to each choir)
Viva Voce has been invited to sing the national anthem before the Harlem Globetrotters event at the Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center, Friday, February 1, 2019, 7 pm (with singers asked to report at 5:30). As is often standard practice for events like this, our singers would need to each have a ticket in order to sing and watch the event. Family members are also encouraged to come and would each need to have a ticket. They are offering us a 25% discount on tickets–at $22 each. (For our scholarship singers, Viva Voce will offer one ticket at $10, to help make it possible for the scholarship singer to participate).
We got a great response to our interest survey and are now collecting money to purchase tickets. We will have a block of seats together for our choir families, and any who order tickets will be given specific seats within the block. We will do our best to place families with other families from their child’s specific choir, and there is a place in the RSVP link to request if you would like your family to be seated right next to another family.
For families participating, please:
1. Sign up for your child to sing HERE
2. Pay for tickets HERE
3. Mark your calendar with the following:
- National Anthem practice for all participating singers on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 6-6:30 p.m. at FPC Saline (between Amabile and Cantabella rehearsals)
- Report to Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center lobby on Friday, Feb. 1 by 5:30 p.m., singers wearing black dress pants/leggings, black socks/shoes, this year’s “Singing with Soul” VV t-shirt. Event begins at 7 pm.
You are invited to partner with Viva Voce Youth Choir in our mission to inspire and connect singers to each other and to their larger community through excellence in choral singing and service projects. We are now opening up our Partnership Campaign and encourage you to get involved! You can partner with us as an individual, family, or business. VV will showcase our business partners in this year’s two concert programs, and all business and other partners have the option of having a 2-line message to your singer printed in the concert programs. Forms with more information will be going home with your singer at this week’s rehearsal or go HERE to find out more! If you know local business owners, please see me for extra forms and encourage them to get involved.
Bottle/Can and Bottle/Can Return Slip Collection
We will be collecting bottle and cans AND bottle/can return slips at EVERY REHEARSAL this season. There will be a bin for cans and bottles in the waiting area at FPC and a collection box for return slips near the attendance sign-in. All proceeds will go to help our Cantabella singers on scholarship attend their Cantabella Chicago Trip in June.
If your child is attending the trip and wants their return slip funds to go toward the balance of their trip cost, they need to place the bottle slip in an envelope and label the envelope with their first and last name. The funds from slips collected through 9/18 will be taken off of students’ payment that is due 10/1. Viva Voce will communicate to you the amount due by 9/21.

Cantabella Singing at FPC Saline
Our choir has a wonderful opportunity to thank First Presbyterian Church of Saline for hosting our rehearsals this season by sharing music with them at their Sunday morning service on January 20. We will sing two songs at the beginning of the service, and then singers are welcome to stay for the remainder of the service with their families or exit. We ask that if you would like to be there to hear your child sing that you stay for the entire service. If you do not plan to stay for the service, we ask that you drop your child off and pick up later. Please mark your calendars with our schedule for Sunday, Jan. 20:
10:00 Singers arrive at FPC for warm-up
10:30 Service begins
10:45 Pick up singer outside of FPC if not staying for the service
11:30 Approximate time service ends
Response needed: Please let us know you your plans for Jan. 20 HERE. We will need a response by 1/18 from each family. This event is such a wonderful way for Viva Voce to be present in our community, sharing our joy and powerful message through our music!
Performance attire: Singers will wear their formal concert attire with scarf/tie.
